Ron Dryden shares some family photos
Glenda made some rice pudding, which is her brother Marvin
Dryden's favorite dessert. Marv, who lives in Hawaii, was not able to
attend the reunion, however, this picture of Harold, Glenda and Ronald
Dryden with Marv's favorite dessert was sent to him for him to enjoy. Marv really appreciated that.
Marv went to a high point in Honolulu, the Punch Bowl, where he looks to the East. It appears he may possibly be looking for a way to get back to Kansas to enjoy some of his favorite dessert.
Glenda enjoyed some quality time with her dad.
Ronny and Glenda Schuft (Dryden) traveled from Glencoe Minnesota to Hutchinson Kansas in August to visit family and Glenda's dad, Bob Dryden.

A Trip to South Dakota (Gas & Hotel...too expensive! Time with 3 Sisters...Priceless)

This past week Mystel Shiney and Martha Kline from Kansas traveled (at the delight of Fred) to South Dakota to visit with sister Wilma Meyer (all daughters of Silvey). While there Mystel and Martha stayed with Alyn Gravatt (Wilma's daughter). As a side bar to the trip, Martha, Mystel, and Alyn took the opportunity to do some quilting and enjoying each other's company.

JOHN SCOTT TO RECEIVE NATIONAL RECOGNITION WITH THE "ANGELS IN ADOPTION™ AWARD (John Scott son of Ralph and MaryK)
John Scott has been recognized by Congressman John Boozman of Arkansas as set forth in the following release
It is my honor to nominate Honorable John R. Scott, 19th West Judicial District, Division IV Circuit Court Judge as the Angel in Adoption for the Third District of Arkansas. Judge Scott has heard 578 adoption cases since becoming Circuit Judge. Judge Scott states, "Successful adoption cases are some of the most rewarding and enjoyable work that I do because the result is a stable and loving environment for someone who has not previously enjoyed that experience." He is truly an advocate for adoption, creating a warm and comfortable environment for the adoptive parents, their attorneys and most importantly, the children who are becoming their new family members. Judge Scott graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1973 with a BA and in 1977 with a JD. In 2001, Judge Scott was appointed Circuit Judge for the 19th West Judicial District by Governor Mike Huckabee and in January 2009 began his second term as an elected official. He was elected unanimously by the other Circuit Judges as the Administrative Judge for the 19 West Judicial District in 2002 and has completed a third two-year term as Administrative Judge. Judge Scott is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, and a member and past President of the Benton County Bar Association. He is active in the William B. About the Award:
The Angels in Adoption™ program is CCAI’s signature public awareness campaign and provides an opportunity for all members of the U.S. Congress to honor the good work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans in the United States and abroad.
“The Angels in Adoption program is unlike any other program in the Nation’s Capitol. Because of it, over 1600 “Angels’ have come to share with Washington their adoption experience and left with a renewed excitement of all that adoption makes possible,” said Kathleen Strottman. “I learned one simple lesson from my time on the hill, knowledge is power. Angels in Adoption is meant to give Members of Congress the knowledge they need to use the power they have toward making the dream of a family a reality for every child.”

In addition to the more than 190 local angels from around the country, several National Angels will also be recognized at the ceremony and gala for their dedication and commitment nationally and internationally to child welfare on a grand scale. Former “National Angels” include First Lady Laura Bush, Patti LaBelle, Jane Seymour, Muhammad Ali, the late Dave Thomas, Steven Curtis Chapman, Bruce Willis, Alonzo Mourning, and Marcus Samuelsson.
The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe, and loving homes through adoption. CCAI’s goal is the elimination of the barriers that hinder these children from realizing their basic right of a family.
CCAI was created in 2001 by the active co-chairs of the bicameral, bipartisan Congressional Coalition on Adoption (CCA) to more effectively raise Congressional and public awareness about the issue of adoption.
The Angels in Adoption™ program was established in 1999 as a Congressional press conference to honor outstanding individuals. Since then, the program has developed into a yearlong public awareness campaign culminating in an extraordinary awards Gala and celebration in Washington, D.C.

A SUMMER VISIT FROM THE GRAND KIDS (Submitted by Alyn & Jerry Gravatt)
Update on Ralph Scott from Lisa Horner (Aug 18th)
Daddy's surgery was a triple by pass 7/30 and it went great. Recovery has been a 2 step forward 1 step back process. Not uncommon. He went home day 13 and back to the hospital day 19, yesterday (Aug 17) This was a great decision as he already feels better. Primary recovery issues have been kidney function and fluid retention which both lead to breathing issues. We expect him home again in 2-3 days and hopefully the recovery process will speed up just a little:)
I'll share your best wishes and love today. Sorry we didn't get the word out as well as we should have. Mom had difficulty getting access to her email while at the hospital and I didn't even try!! Hope all is well with you guys. Love, Lisa

A Note concerning Ralph Scott - Surgery (from Lois Vasey via Mary K)
On July 30, our cousin Ralph Scott had bypass surgery. He has been recuperating at home and is now back in the hospital in Springfield, MO where he is being "fine tuned" after a little set-back. He is progressing just fine and docs are saying he will probably go home after the weekend (Aug.22). Mary Kay has asked me to give you this info-----she's just been too busy to get a note off to you, but assures everyone that he is weak, but feeling better each day.
